Grade II Listed Building Renovation with Basement Conversion and Contemporary Extension

This project involves the complete remodelling of a Grade II listed building, including a significant basement conversion, a contemporary kitchen extension, and internal reconfiguration to restore original features.

We are extending the existing cellar from 41m² to 280m² to create a luxurious lower ground floor. This newly designed space incorporates a swimming pool, cinema room, home office, bedrooms, and self-contained staff accommodation.

On the ground floor, we have designed a modern, open-plan, single-storey kitchen extension that complements the historical character of the property while delivering contemporary functionality and aesthetics.

Given the listed status of the building, careful consideration has been given to preserving and enhancing its architectural integrity. The property has undergone multiple alterations over the past century; to restore cohesion, we are reinstating the staircase to its original location, which will once again act as the central circulation core, improving flow and accessibility throughout the home.

A large three-sided glazed light well brings natural light into the expanded basement, where a water feature adds a tranquil focal point. Access to the new lower-ground level includes dedicated staff entry and a separate external staircase leading to the landscaped garden.
