Modern brick house with a white rendered exterior, large glass sliding doors, and a sloped red zinc roof. Zinc panels. Pitched roof

Built in 1995, this house sits on a large plot in a conservation area in Wimbledon. We were tasked by the client with demolishing the existing dining/sun room that connected to the kitchen and building a replacement kitchen extension, whilst turning the existing garage into a utility room and boot room to the front and a large gym to the rear. The client wanted to achieve a much better connection to the garden from the kitchen/dining area and also the gym.

Our client was very open to different forms and shapes for the extension and after playing around with many different styles, the dual pitched roof was settled on, as it continued the pitch of the existing hipped garage roof and created two separate forms for the kitchen and gym, with extra height coming from the asymmetric gables. Crittall doors were a preference for our client and we went to Maxlight for thermally broken doors and windows in the style of crittall - in a RAL colour to match the warm zinc tone. The red pimento zinc roof and cladding to the facade was chosen to compliment the colours of the existing hung tiles and roof tiles of the house and the forms were rendered white to match the existing house also.

We also carried out some reconfiguration works to the ground floor and refurbishment on the first and second floors including new bathrooms and the addition of air conditioning. The project has just finished on site and we are looking forward to getting this professionally photographed shortly.
